EMPLOYMENT: As registered nurse: hospitals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, St. Louis, Missouri, Hartford, Connecticut, Little Rock Arkansas and part time employment with Indiana University Health Systems; As attorney: intern in labor arbitration, United Steel Workers of American; at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; in Indianapolis at Stewart & Irwin 1985-1991; Price & Barker 1991-1995; Lewis & Wagner 1995-1997; now in solo practice since 1997 to the present.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Mary has served on numerous professional organizations throughout her 30 plus years as an attorney, including as President of the Indiana State Guardianship Association (ISGA) (2016-2019).
Mary’s work includes the development of guardianship standards for family and professional guardians in Indiana. She has an experience-based insight in the “right to association” and "supported decision" legislation which have gained national and state attention. Mary’s medical knowledge and mediation skills make her uniquely qualified to effectively help families during stressful life transitions and particularly in coping with dementias and other disabilities of aging. Mary has served formally and informally to assist many families in conflict. Mary is a frequent speaker on issues pertaining to guardianships and the elderly. Among other engagements, Mary has spoken at the Indiana State Bar Association Solo and Small Firm conference, at a conflicts resolution class at the University of Indianapolis, webinars and lectures for the Indianapolis Bar Association.
Mary served as the Guardian Ad Litem for adults in the Marion County Probate Court from 2011 to 2015. She now concentrates her practice in adult guardianships and serves as guardian, guardian ad litem, elder mediator and attorney in guardianship and elder law matters.

VOLUNTEER WORK: Pro Bono Attorney: The Heartland Pro Bono Council; numerous years as a judge for Teen Court; Past Deacon and Trustee in Church; Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trained (ask me about this) and volunteering at Landmarks Foundation.
PERSONAL LIFE: Mary is divorced and the proud mother of a cardiologist on the West coast, an emergency room physician on the East coast and an aspiring physician in between. Mary enjoys personal work outs including swimming and yoga and is often seen riding her bike through downtown Indianapolis. You may also spot her in an electric BueIndy car.
